SPFBO Shorts Author Interview with A.M. Justice - Jon Auerbach

SPFBO Shorts Author Interview with A.M. Justice

All this month, you can get 25 short stories and novellas from Self-Published Fantasy Blog-Off (SPFBO) authors absolutely free through the SPFBO Shorts promotion.

As part of the promo, I virtually sat down with a host of the participating authors.

Today’s author interview is with A.M. Justice.

Tell us a little about your SPFBO Short.

About 1000 years before my SPFBO entry, A Wizard’s Forge, takes place, 12 powerful wizards from across the world formed a Council and decided that for the safety of ordinary people, every other person with magical abilities should be killed.

They recruited other, less powerful wizards to carry out their genocidal campaign, and “Kill Squad” revolves around one of these Enforcers and her encounter with a pair of fugitive wizards and their unique familiars.

The story explains, in part, why magic wielders are exceedingly rare during the time of the Woern Saga novels.

All the stories in this series take place on another planet settled by human spacefarers several millennia before, and as such the world is populated by alien creatures rather than the magical beasts typical of epic fantasy.

What has been your favorite part of SPFBO?

It’s been a great opportunity to get to know other authors and book bloggers. I’ve made friends among both groups, and now that I’m judging (for Fantasy Faction) rather than competing, I also get to read a lot more great fiction.

What are you currently working on?

I just finished the final (I hope) revision of A Wizard’s Sacrifice, which is the sequel to A Wizard’s Forge (my SPFBO entry).

Author bio

I’m a Brooklyn-based author, lover of science and wit, sporadic scuba diver, and once and future tango dancer. My characters live only in my head, but they’re real, and I put them through hell.

You can pick up A.M.’s SPFBO Short Kill Squad and more at the SPFBO Shorts promo on Bookfunnel all month long.
